My Christmas pudding is tucked away in the spare room (because that's where Delia told me to put it!) so I have the adults sorted for dessert on the big day. So now it's time to think about the children. Part of me thinks the kids will have enough treats and goodies during the festive season that they don't need more sweet stuff BUT then I thought I could make a gorgeous looking pudding that is healthy (ish) so they get to enjoy the full works on Christmas day.
As I'm indecisive, I've made the 3 different desserts that I'm considering all using Fro Fru maker and seeing what my kids think is the best treat.
- Option 1- Shown above- Waffles with frozen strawberry on top. I made the waffles in the waffle maker (these can be frozen and defrosted on the day) and then a ball of frozen strawberry popped on top.
- Option 2- Layered glass. This is super simple. Layer ice cream and different flavours of Fro Fru fruit in a glass. I used strawberry and apple layers around vanilla ice cream. I then sprinkled with stars and decorated with chocolate fingers.
- Option 3- Pastry puffs. Bake 6 rectangles of ready-made puff pastry. When cooled, spilt in half and spread the Fro Fru in the middle. Banana works best as it has a thick consistency.
Which option would you make your children on Christmas day? I'm now happy because they will get the full three course dinner and I know that I've squeezed a portion of fruit into the day.
Top tip- sprinkle everything with icing sugar for a snowy effect
A review of the Fro Fru is here- Trusted reviews verdict is 'This clever machine makes frozen fruit desserts so tasty your five-a-day will feel like a treat' . They have also written an easy to follow description of how to use it. Thanks guys.
