Who doesn't love a new kitchen gadget?

We all love different gadgets in the kitchen

If I have half an hour to spare, I love wandering round kitchen shops and, before I know it, I’m at the counter buying another kitchen gadget that I can’t manage without! It’s the idea of all that time I’ll save that appeals to me. And I like a well-designed gadget – like Judge’s set of stylish, stainless steel kitchen gadgets or ‘innovations’ as I like to call them. Have a look - there might be some in there that surprise you! Did you know that some kitchen gadgets have been around since Roman times? Yes, really! But now that we don’t have slaves to do all the work for us, we need a bit of help in the kitchen.

Recently, my daughter was rummaging around in the kitchen drawers looking for items to take to her student house. Someone trying to take away your kitchen gadgets really concentrates the mind. What could I live without? Some of our ‘must-haves’ were different – hers included a pizza slice and a bottle opener (student life!) whereas I couldn’t live without my pastry brush and cake slicer (so that’s where all the calories are coming from)! Another favourite of mine is a garlic press whereas my daughter just uses the back of a knife, Jamie style. But we both agreed that no self-respecting kitchen could be without our top five gadgets: a peeler, a whisk, a can opener, a grater and a turner.

In true mum style, I emptied my kitchen drawers and kitted her out for the year ahead. But there was method in my madness. Well, I’ll need to replace those essential gadgets, won’t I?
